I love this picture I grabbed on Sunday before we left for church. Tad preached Sunday night, so that’s why he’s wearing his suit. I just love the special bond that fathers have with their daughters, and I especially love how this picture symbolizes Tad’s spiritual leadership in our family and over Vera. It makes me so thankful for my godly husband!
Only One Life
We love the kids in our youth group so much we decided to have an extra night of ministry with some of them (in addition to Sunday School, Sunday nights, and Youth Group on Wednesday nights, plus other events/trips). And because they love the Word of God so much, they (the seniors in high school and up) are choosing to come to our house once a week for a study through John Piper’s book, Don’t Waste Your Life. Whether you’re 15, 30, or 85, this book will resonate with you and challenge you to live the remainder of your life for Christ’s glory and not your own.
The thing that stood out the most from tonight’s study (aside from the iced caramel macchiatos and homemade cinnamon rolls, cookies, and peppermint bark…ahem…) was the concept that only the things we do for Christ matter eternally.
Think about it. The ONLY things that have eternal significance are the things we do for Christ!
Piper shared part of a poem that was influential in his growing-up years:
Only one life, ’twill soon be past;
Only what’s done for Christ will last.
I made a printable for the girls in our group (I might also make a more masculine one for the guys), and I wanted to share it with you too!

Live your life with eternity in sight!
P.S. I’m also writing over here today.
New Endeavors
This year, Tad and I are embarking on some new ministry opportunities!
Tad started a new blog for the youth of our church. It’s called The Good Book Before Facebook, and you can read more about it here. Tad is encouraging the youth to read the Bible each day, and he is writing a short devotional for them to read each day as well.
Tonight Tad is starting a study for the high school seniors (and up) in our youth group. They’ll be studying John Piper’s book entitled Don’t Waste Your Life. They are meeting at our house every Monday night.
Tomorrow night, Andrea and I are starting a ladies’ study for women in our community. We’re really excited about going through Nancy Leigh DeMoss’s book entitled Lies Women Believe and the Truth that Sets Them Free. We’ll be meeting every month at our church and studying a new chapter each month.
We’re so excited about these new ministry opportunities!
