One thing I always treasure is photos with my children… not just of them! Tad took these photos of us before church yesterday morning.
We had a really special Mother’s Day yesterday and I am so thankful for how my family showed their love to me!

Last year I wrote a “day in our life” post, and I wanted to do that again this year! It’s fun to see what has stayed the same and what is different this year.
This is a very average day… we didn’t go anywhere and most of the moments were filled with normal, everyday stuff!

6:50 My alarm goes off and I do my devotions. I strip the sheets off the bed because I wash the bedding every Wednesday.
7:30 I wash my face, start a load of laundry (sheets and towels), and begin making breakfast.
7:45 I brew a cup of red raspberry leaf tea.
7:50 The girls are up and have gotten themselves dressed. They set the table for me and I fill in our family calender for May.
7:55 Jude is awake. I get him up and then serve breakfast to the kids.
8:00 I make my own breakfast and finalize lunch and dinner plans for the day.
8:20 I do the dishes and clean up from breakfast. The girls do a fun lacing cards activity. I put some orange essential oil in the diffuser.
8:40 I move the laundry from the washer to the dryer. I finally get to drink my tea.
8:55 We put away the lacing cards and I get dressed (does this shirt make me look pregnant? yes?!), put on some make-up, and do my hair.
9:05 The girls help me load the washer with their bedding/pillows/animals.
9:15 I text Tad to say “good morning” and a few of my girlfriends to check in with them.
9:20 I do a walk-through of the house and straighten up things as I go (mostly the living room, girls’ room, and bathroom).
9:30 We start making sauerkraut. (Not a normal thing, but I thought it would be a fun to include the kids!)
10:00 The girls are still pounding kraut. I put away the breakfast dishes. Jude plays with the toy kitchen.
10:25 The kraut is finished. I put away the clean towels and switch the laundry from the washer to the dryer.
10:35 Snack time! We eat apple slices.
10:40 I put away the rest of the first load of laundry and make the bed. I read some books to Jude.
11:00 The kids’ laundry is finished drying and I make their beds.
11:15 I start prepping lunch and wash some more dishes.
11:25 I walk in the living room and realize that someone has written on the windows with chapstick. She cleans up her mess.
11:30 I read several books to the kids.
12:00 I return to the kitchen to finish making lunch.
12:15 We eat lunch – Mexican Rice & Beans.
12:30 I clean up the kitchen from lunch while the kids play.
1:00 I start prepping dinner while the kids play with blocks in Jude’s room.
1:25 The kids clean up Jude’s room.
1:30 The kids watch an episode of Daniel Tiger while I straighten up the house a bit.
1:40 I sneak a piece of chocolate and catch up on Instagram.
And if you give a mom a piece of chocolate, she’s going to want some coffee to go with it.
2:00 I put the kids down for naps.
2:05 I work on some photo editing while listening to a homemaking conference lecture. I write a blog post.
2:45 I watch a few segments of a Craftsy class.
3:25 I work on a blogging project – Chocolate Cupcakes for Two.
3:45 I do some reading.
4:00 I finish up frosting and photographing the cupcakes, then I clean up my mess.
4:10 Dinner is in the oven (prepped earlier) and I read a little more.
4:20 Jude wakes up and I read to him.
4:30 The girls wake up. Tonight Cordelia is my dinner helper, so she helps me in the kitchen. One of the children wet the bed during naptime, so I rewash all of their bedding.
4:45 The kids have fun playing with their learning placemats and they practice their counting, colors, and letters.
5:30 Tad is off work. (He’s been working from home this afternoon, so his “commute” is about 4 seconds long!)
5:45 We sit down to dinner together – Confetti Turkey Meatloaf, fried potatoes, and peas.
6:00 We clean up from dinner.
6:15 The girls color at the table while I do some more straightening.
6:40 Jude takes a bath (Tad gives him one) while I start washing the cloth diapers. Jude streaks through the kitchen.
7:00 I put Jude to bed and put the girls in the tub.
7:15 Tad reads some stories to the girls and I take a little break in my room to flip through a magazine and put my feet up.
7:30 I join Tad and the girls in their room for family devotions. Tad reads from Thoughts to Make Your Heart Sing and we sing a few songs and pray.
8:00 The girls are tucked in bed and going to sleep. I watch some more of my Craftsy class while Tad finishes up some work he has to do.
8:30 Tad and I talk about his job and his day. We eat cupcakes and hang out. We finish washing the cloth diapers.
10:00 We each read before going to sleep.
The End.
Hope you enjoyed this glimpse into our day!

Last weekend we took a little trip to Richmond, followed by a trip to Northern VA (hello, IKEA!) and to see Tad’s maternal grandmother, as well as his aunt, uncle, and cousin.
When we walked up the steps and Grandma saw Tad holding Jude, she started crying. She hadn’t seen him since before he was married, so to see him with a wife and three kids must have been a sight!
I tried my best to get photos of the kids with Grandma! Here are some moments from our evening.
Jude is our little ham!
Oh, and if I look sick in these pictures, it’s because I was/am. Bad cold, but I think I’m over the hump!
Angela, Aunt Kim, and me.
We are thankful we got to spend even that brief time with Tad’s extended family! Hope to be back again before too much longer!
