I’ve been loving this series on Gospel centered resources for families, and it looks like you guys have been too, based on your comments on Facebook and the fact that you’ve been ordering some of these books for your own families! Today I’m sharing Gospel centered family devotionals and other resources to aid you as you teach God’s Word to your kids!
If your kids are quite young, reading many of the Bible story books I shared yesterday are quite appropriate for the level at which they are learning! But as they grow, many of the books in this post will become more appropriate!
We have been teaching our kids the New City Catechism since Vera was three! The older three kids know most of the 52 questions fairly well, and we’re cycling through the book again to help the younger ones grasp the questions and answers too! We snagged a few of the tiny books so each of the kids would have their own copy. They’ve loved that!
Currently, we’re reading through Long Story Short (ebook version) at our dinnertime family devotions. Tad reads the Bible passage and accompanying devotional, then asks the kids questions. After that we practice our catechism questions.
Indescribable is the family devotional I read in the mornings to the kids last year during our school year. Each devotional is quite short, and helps them learn more about all the cool things God has designed in our world! Awesome for kids who love science, nature, and animals.
I can’t say enough good things about these devotionals by Sally Michael! We’ve enjoyed reading God’s Names, God’s Design, God’s Word, God’s Providence, and God’s Promise during our morning time in our homeschool. My own heart has been encouraged by these powerful books! There are others in the series too, I believe!
If you’re looking for a book that teaches your kids about God’s names while also teaching through Bible stories, I Am: 40 Reasons to Trust God might be exactly what you’re looking for! Each devotional isn’t too long, so it would be a great way to start or end your day.
This week we started reading through Our 24 Family Ways during our morning time in our homeschool. This family devotional helps build foundational principles in your home and family, guiding your kids through Scripture passages to help them understand why we choose to honor God in these specific ways.
Tiny Theologians offers excellent, Gospel centered resources for families training their kids about God! From ABC cards (attributes of God, names of God, and theology), to Big Words of the Bible (teaching key Greek and Hebrew words), to the fantastic Christ at the Center cards (which help aid an understanding of how all the books of the Bible fit together), you’ll definitely be able to find a resource that will serve your family well! These cards are great for reviewing at mealtimes, OR hanging up and displaying somewhere in your home!
I’d love to hear from you! What books has your family enjoyed using for family devotions? I’m always on the lookout for new books!
Please feel free to share or pin this post to reference again later!
