As I mentioned before, we picked a bunch of strawberries last week!
lots and LOTS of berries! |
Here’s what I made with them:
-10 half-pint jars of freezer jam
-10 baby food jars of freezer jam
-several other miscellaneous containers of freezer jam
-4 bags crushed strawberries (2 cups each – enough to make 4 more batches of freezer jam)
-4 bags sliced strawberries (1 cup each – for fruit salads, desserts, etc.)
-1 batch of strawberry ice cream
And we had all the strawberries we could eat! We still have a bowl in the fridge we’re working on.
Do you have strawberries yet where you live? Do you eat them all or do you preserve them?
We won’t have strawberries here for at least another month or two ๐ I’m drooling over your picture!
Wow! It must have taken a loong time to pick them all!
I am so jealous! We wont have strawberries for another month either. I have 50 plants in the garden, waiting for them to flower and produce!
Please share your recipe for freezer jam! I would love to make some soon for Jeremy and I!
How much do they cost a pound to pick them? And is it local?
@Joshua and StephanieThey are VERY local! We could (almost) walk to the patch. ๐ I can’t remember exactly how much they are per pound, but I’m pretty sure they’re less than $1.50/lb.
@CortneyI used the freezer jam recipe from the Sure Jell (pectin) box… very easy… but I can post it!
Hi! Seeing pictures of strawberries on your blog inspired me to write about my ‘strawberry memory’ . Here’s the link to my strawberry post.
