Yesterday we had our ultrasound and we got to see our precious new baby!
Baby Punkin’s heart rate was 157.
Punkin did not stop moving for the entire ultrasound! We saw at least three complete somersaults, as well as very wiggly arms and legs. The ultrasound technician could not believe how active Punkin was! (Oh boy, are we in for it!) We even got a few waves!
Baby seems totally healthy… all organs are present and functioning as best as they can tell. We are thankful!
Wanna see a picture?
And here’s one of the waves.
So sweet, right!?!
After the appointment, I went shopping!
Because…
…we’re going to need some blue outfits around here!
Baby Punkin is a he!
He is the third grandchild, and first grandson, on my family’s side.
He is the sixth grandchild on Tad’s side (tying it up between boys and girls).
Vera is very excited about her baby brother. We asked her several times the morning of the ultrasound whether the baby inside Mommy was a boy or a girl. She said “boy” every time!
Tad is excited that he won’t be so outnumbered anymore. π He loves his three girls, but he is very excited to have a SON too!
For those of you who are mothers of a boy or boys, what is your favorite thing about having a son?
We LOVE this little guy already!! Maybe Vera will have someone who can keep up with her!!
SO excited! Love, Pops and MiMi <3
Thanks!
How excititing!! Drew is thrilled to have a new boy cousin!! Love you all!
Thanks! Drew will be a great friend for lil’ Punkin!
How exciting!! We are expecting baby #6 around the first of September and can’t wait to find out what our sweet pea is! You will love having a little boy! They are just as sweet and lovable but so fun and playful. Congratulations on a healthy pregnancy and God bless your new little one:-). Jen
Thanks for your sweet comment, Jen! Congrats on #6! That’s awesome!
Thank you! And that’s so cute that your daughter was right about her brother:-). So exciting:-) Jen
What fun!! I have 3 boys followed by 1 little girl! Boys are sweet and fun! My boys are helpful and chatty. They are rough and energetic and full of life, but I think they took me out of my comfort “girlie” zone and made me appreciate life through a different set of eyes! π
I’m sure you’ve already thought of this, but Dr. Dobson’s book on boys is fabulous! A must read for sure! π
I’ll definitely be reading Dr. D’s book!
Awww… So happy for a healthy baby! Enjoy a little blue!!! And, some trucks and tractors. π
Thanks, Liz!
awe… so awesome! you are going to LOVE having a boy π – im kinda partial to boys tho. hehe.
Things I love with boys… oh… hmm… well… you cant go wrong with onesies? LOL! boys are so stinking easy to dress and please you really dont need much. Give them a box, some pots and a spoon and you are good to go.
If you were closer I would have a ton of clothes headed your way! Ive been handing down all our boy clothes to a friend in our church due in a few weeks with her 1st boy.
Yes… easy to dress sounds great! π
Congratulations!!! I am so excited for y’all to have a little man in the family!!!!
Thanks, Kelly!
I love my little boys creativity and antics! They ALWAYS have me on my toes… and boy, oh, boy are they “thinkers”!! I love the craziness they bring into our house… it can be a little too crazy sometimes… but they are always teaching Momma to lighten up, be patient and listen:)
Very excited for you all!! ANd so thankful for your healthy little one:)
I love that you pointed out that little boys are “thinkers.” I’m excited to be challenged by that! π
Boys! Where do I begin to share the joy of raising a boy or two…or four? So excited and happy for you all. Love you baby Punkin…can’t wait to meet you! Baby Punkin will have something his Daddy NEVER had…SISTERS! Can’t wait to watch this! grammy
I’m so thankful that you had FOUR boys and didn’t stop at two or three. π
Congratulations! Out of my four kiddos, three are boys π I too, like Kelly, appreciate how the masculinity that God created them with is already manifest in little boys. Problem-solving, incessant wrestling, and special snuggles only for mommy is just the beginning of the joy of it all! Out of curiosity (and this may seem a little odd to be asking), which side of your uterus is your placenta located? I just read about a doctor in Israel who in the last 5 years has developed a method for being able to tell gender before 20 weeks . . . by looking at which side the placenta was located in the uterus at 6-8 weeks. He discovered that for about 95% of boys, the placenta was located on the right side, and for 97% of girls, the placenta was located on the left. I’m not entirely sure how accepted this method is, but it certainly compels me to ask if I have the opportunity. Blessings to you and yours!
That’s so interesting! I’ve never heard that before and I’m actually not sure what side my placenta is on! I’ll have to ask next time.
Yay, boys are so fun!!!
One of my fav boy things? The way they ‘defend’! My boys (I know -men!) come to my defense when ever they perceive there’s trouble! They seem nonchalant but when there’s a family challenge-they circle the wagons to defend and protect! Love that! Grammy
