Over the weekend, Vera nursed for the last time. I am so thankful for the wonderful nursing relationship we had over the last fourteen-and-a-half months! It’s really amazing to think that I personally nursed Vera every single day for her whole first year of life and then some.
I think because I am pregnant my milk supply dwindled, encouraging her to wean at this time. But I don’t think she minds, since she is a great eater and enjoys a wide variety of solid foods. The weaning process has been very gradual, and while I cried a lot about it (since I knew it was coming) about a month ago, I am at peace now knowing that the timing is right.
We still cuddle at night in the rocking chair in her room while Daddy reads a Bible story.
I will always treasure the memories of nursing my precious firstborn!
They grow up so fast. SO glad you were able to share that with her. Lots of fun special memories to come still ๐
I know how you feel! I got the flu when Liam was 15 months and lost my supply. I was pretty upset about it since I wasn’t prepared for it to stop so abruptly. But, it is a great gift to be able to give your child. ๐
Awww. Thanks for sharing something so sweet to your heart.
I remember those days so very long, long ago. I always think the weaning is harder on Mama than it is on Baby. Sweet times.
It is such a sad, wonderful time. I nursed my three girls and my last nursed until she was two:) I remember the last time she nursed, and then about a week later asked again. After latching on, she said, “no more nummies, mommy” and that was it. I am now a La Leche League leader and still get sad seeing all the mommas nursing their babies. It was such an incredible experience!
