Another Kitty

December 17, 2010 by Aliesha

So as I mentioned earlier this week, it has been very cold here!  For a while now, we have been feeding an outdoor cat that adopted us this past spring.  We named her Penny.  Yesterday, Tad decided to bring her inside, since for the past week she has been begging to be let inside (literally – tapping at the door and making sad, “have pity on me” faces, while meowing pitifully).  Tad has such a soft heart!

Penny is as happy as can be!  We gave her a flea bath, and now she is all clean, dry, warm, and well-fed.  Abominable Snow Kitty does not like her yet, so we’ve had to split up a couple of cat fights (instigated by Kitty).

We’re hoping they soon grow to like (or at least tolerate) one another!

    They’re beautiful cats!
It’s normal for them to “hiss” at each other at first.
They just might become best buds!

You guys are just like me..I had the one kitten, then saw another little one out in the rain, so of course I had to bring him in:P They didn’t like each other for a while, but now they are best friends. 🙂

We have 4 cats, and one of them always has fun annoying one of the others. But they generally get along well! 🙂

Good luck with that. 🙂 We had Chance (11 years old,) who looks just like your white cat. Then, Logan came around as a kitten a year and a half ago. They FINALLY are used to each other, and then a kitten somehow got in our garage while we were away (a little red puff-ball)and then one followed me and the puppy home on our daily walk over a month ago. So…right now, Chance no longer hisses, but Logan hates the kittens. I think because Chance is old and has seen so many animals come into our home (kittens that I’ve found homes for, pot-bellied pig who is my baby boy, and a puppy,) he just goes with the flow.

The kittens, who we swore up and down would NOT be indoor kittens now have their own room in the house for the Winter…until Spring! Then outside they go! 🙂

    I’m glad you rescued Penny.

Oh how sweet! She’s darling Aliesha! I’m sure they will eventually get along, but it takes some cats awhile. It’s probably a good idea to just let them fight it out. It’s how they establish dominance in the home, and should expedite their friendship (unless of course they’re drawing blood!). We had the very same situation w/ our Autumn and Winter. Poor Winter was outside just getting drenched and had been abandoned by her mother, so we took her in. Although she has another home now, she was a sweet addition to our home while we had her!

I hope the two learn to get along. They may or may not. But I’m so glad you brought in the other cat. what a nice life they both will now have!

I wouldn’t expect them to share the same food or water dishes, though.

This is when I know I’m sooo not an animal person, lol. I’d be nervous having a new cat in the house with a baby.
