I definitely find myself complaining a lot about poor customer service, both at stores I visit, and companies I call (how hard is it to speak to a LIVE PERSON?).
Today, I was pleasantly surprised by some excellent customer service I received, and I just wanted to share it.
I vowed that this week I would finally get out my crock pot and start using it. I haven’t felt well enough to cook much at all since our little egg came along, so I thought I could at least try some simple crock pot meals.
I was given a BEAUTIFUL crock pot as a wedding gift, and when I pulled it out of the box today I couldn’t believe how big it is! It’s 5.5 qts., and I think it might be the biggest one I’ve used. Anyway, I filled it up with my raw chicken and other goodness, plugged it in, and nothing happened.
I called Crock-Pot(R) and spoke with a customer service representative. After a few questions (about model number, etc.), she told me that they were going to replace my crock pot because it is still under warranty. However, the crock pot I have is out of stock. SOOOO… they are sending me a nicer, bigger one (6.5 qts.!, pictured above) for no extra charge! And it’s programmable, so I can set it to come on at a certain time later in the day. Very cool! She asked me if I thought it would be too big, and I was like… I want to have a big family… so it’ll be fine. π
Thankful for God’s provision for our family in this way!
P.S. If any of you have great crock pot recipes you would like to share, please let me know! Can’t wait to try them out when my new crock arrives.
Here is one I’ve been making a lot! It’s very easy and tasty! Even Tad could make this one! π
Chicken tortilla soup
about 1 lb chicken breasts (sometimes I even put them in still frozen)
1 minced garlic clove
2 cans chicken broth
2 cans diced tomatoes (I like to use one can of rotel to make it a little spicier)
1 cup salsa
1 Tbsp cumin
Other spices if you want it spicier (sometimes I use cayenne pepper or chili powder)
Cheese and sour cream to put on top
Put everything in the crockpot (except cheese and sour cream). Cook on low 8 hours. Take chicken out and shred with two forks. Return chicken to crockpot. Ladle out, top with cheese and sour cream, and enjoy.
I like to serve them with cornbread or corn muffins.
Angela,
That sounds SOOOOO good! I’ll have to make it soon!
Thanks!

Oh, yes! I second what Drea said! I love that blog!!
Hey, this isnt a recipe or anything but my Sunday School teacher uses her croc pot ALL THE TIME and one thing that is great is that she gets Crock Pot bags, she just gets them at wal mart I guess and they are great. All you have to do when you are done with it, is throw the bag away and it saves cleaning time and energy. (I was reading you said your energy level was low, so I though maybe less washing would help a bit)!!! Miss ya and <3 ya!!!!!!
